Gonzales Under Fire in Attorney General Hearings

NPR's Madeleine Brand talks with NPR Washington, D.C., editor Ron Elving about the U.S. Senate confirmation hearings for attorney general nominee Alberto Gonzales that began Thursday. Gonzales has come under fire from Democrats over a memo he wrote as White House counsel concerning the use of torture when interrogating enemy combatant detainees in the Bush administration's so-called war on terror.
