NPR's Ed Gordon speaks with Dr. Lynn Smitherman of the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit about her recent study indicating the use of herbal remedies to treat some childhood ailments is more popular than believed. The study, entitled "The Use of Folk Remedies Among Children in an Urban Black Community: Remedies for Fever, Colic, and Teething," is in the March issue of Pediatrics magazine.
