Women and War

Two years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, images of women in uniform, carrying M-16 rifles, kissing their children goodbye and heading off to war are no longer a shocking sight. And while the military adjusts to a mix-gender battlefield, there are issues on the home front. Returning female veterans share their experiences.

Guests:

Connie Spinks, sergeant in the U.S. Army

Joyce Raezer, director of government relations, National Military Family Association

Shannon Alvarez, sergeant, California National Guard
