Slate's Jurisprudence: The Justice Who Wouldn't Quit

Even as speculation builds over who President Bush will nominate to the U.S. Supreme Court to replace outgoing Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Chief Justice William Rehnquist insists he has no plans of retirement, despite suffering from thyroid cancer. Alex Chadwick talks with Slate legal analyst Emily Bazelon about what's happened in the past when Supreme Court justices have refused to retire in the face of physical illness.
