Waltz, who represented a House district covering parts of Northeast Florida, is the most prominent senior administration official to depart since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.

Early voting is underway in a special election for the former congressional seat of Republican Mike Waltz, who is now national security adviser.

This comes after days of speculation about whether he misled the vice president-elect about talks with the Russian ambassador. Flynn allegedly discussed U.S. sanctions before Trump was inaugurated.
