Attorney General Pam Bondi is touting her new initiative launched last month to help Florida’s military service members and veterans—the target of scams.
Bondi’s new initiative—the MVAP, or Military and Veterans Assistance Program—seeks to protect military consumers from deceptive businesses.
“Because people out there are scamming our military, our family members of military when they’re deployed, and our great veterans with consumer scams, taking your money, saying ,‘because you’re a veteran, they’re going to do more to help you and do more to help you,’ when all it is, is a scam,” she said, at a recent conference. “You can go on myFloridaLegal.com and report it to us because if you’re out there protecting us, we’re going to be out there protecting you and your families.”
The goal of Bondi’s MVAP team is to provide resources and educate military service members and veterans on how to protect themselves from consumer-related scams and file complaints. That includes connecting them with legal aid, if need be as well as ensuring complaints are handled properly. For more information, visit myFloridalegal.com/MVAP.
