Legislative Session 2012: A Tale of Two Chambers

This legislative session, the House has been quiet, disciplined and relatively civil. The Senate has had more of a civil war, with moderate Republicans and Democrats joining forces to oppose the conservative leadership.

So, you could call the regular session of the Florida Legislature, "A Tale of Two Chambers. "

Even the Florida Supreme Court sided with the House, unanimously approving the House redistricting plan while rejecting the Senate's plan.

Peter Schorsch, a political consultant and author of saintpetersblog.com has watched it all and sees the Supreme Court ruling as a fitting end to session 2012 for the divided Senate.

"They didn't like anything about the Senate plan. They didn't even like the numbering system that the Senate is using."

The Supreme Court rejection of the Senate Redistricting plan means session 2012 with get an extension. There will have to be a special session for the Senate to redraw  its maps and resubmit them for Supreme Court approval.
