There are growing concerns over cyber hacking as mail-in ballots are being sent out and Election Day nears.
The FBI held a conference call with all Florida election offices to discuss security, following a recent attempt made by hackers to break into Florida's voting system.
An election supervisor told the Tampa Bay Times/Miami Herald that the FBI informed supervisors of a "malicious act found in a jurisdiction," but ensured them that they have not been hacked and nothing has been found at the state level.
Craig Latimer, supervisor of elections for Hillsborough County, says that these threats are being taken seriously, but there is no need to worry.
"The voting machines that you put your ballot in are not connected to the internet or any intranets, so there's basically no way to hack that device," Latimer said.
Latimer says Florida has paper ballots, so officials can always go back and recreate an election based on those ballots, if needed.
He says precautions are being taken to ensure a fair, accurate and secure election.
