Opening Reception: Sarah Ruehmann’s “Glass and the Menagerie”

Opening Reception: Sarah Ruehmann’s “Glass and the Menagerie”
This offering by Sarah Ruehmann is a collection of multi-media sculptural works of polymer clay, Tiffany-method stained glass, and found or repurposed objects. Her creatures and environments, real and imagined, explore the building blocks of the natural world, how our immediate environment affects us, as well as our effect on it. “Art is my strongest connection to this world. Through the act of making these objects, I feel my place in the universe. These works explore ‘What Is’, while asking, ‘What If?’”
A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sarah’s varied educational background includes set design, stagecraft, fiber arts, jewelry and metalsmithing, with apprenticeships in Tiffany method stained glass, tattooing and piercing.
See the show throughout the month of April and attend the opening reception during St. Pete’s Second Saturday Art Walk. The reception features the music of Leon Barrickman, as well as food, drink and the art of over 30 artists. This event is produced with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, Creative Pinellas and the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.
