Scintillating Saxophones features the Sinta Quartet (Dan Graser, Zach Stern, Joe Girard, Danny Hawthorne-Foss), a group on a mission to bring the versatility, homogeneity, and excitement of the saxophone to audiences everywhere. Performing entirely from memory, the quartet offers a fresh, interactive chamber music experience. Gold medal winners at the prestigious 2018 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the quartet’s program includes their own arrangements of Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12 in F major “American” and Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles for Wind Quintet, along with Bela Fleck’s UFO Tofu and Mark O’Connor’s Appalachia Waltz, and more. Join us this Spring for a Bistro Pop-Up Night! Enjoy an after-hours gallery tour and a 4-course dinner curated by Executive Chef Peyton Leffingwell. The Bistro fare is inspired by Florida’s regional fruit stands and farmer’s markets, and emphasizes local produce, healthy proteins and artisanal specialty items.

Beijing Guitar Duo – Meng Su and Yameng Wang, both born in Qingdao, China – won multiple international competitions as young guitar prodigies before joining forces to form the Beijing Guitar Duo. Launching their international concert career with a 2010 Carnegie Hall debut, the duo has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. They toured and recorded with legendary guitarist Manuel Barrueco and were nominated for a Latin Grammy. Their concert includes music by Franck, Debussy, Albéniz, and Gnattali. Join us for live jazz at Sarasota Art Museum, hosted by the Jazz Club of Sarasota, with extended hours in the galleries, Bistro, and SHOP! Sip on refreshing cocktails and enjoy small bites in the Bistro.
Each second Thursday of the month features a different style of jazz–from straight-ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing–programmed in partnership with Jazz Club of Sarasota. Galleries are open until 7:00 pm on Jazz Thursdays.

Enjoy Darcie Allen and The Five Points Quintet's performance on the Marcy & Michael Klein Plaza from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

Tropical Heatwave (“THW”) is a locally-sponsored, annual music festival celebrating diversity in music during an exotic evening of eclectic entertainment, featuring independent artists and a variety of local musicians in Ybor City. This year's artists include Chuck Prophet and his Cumbia Shoes Band, Sue Foley, GA-20, Cheo, Skating Polley, Damon Fowler, Zach Person, Rocket 88, and many more. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 the day of the event.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is proud to announce the Oceania Couture Performance Show on Saturday, May 10, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., in a unique event that blends high fashion with ocean conservation perfectly fit for Mother’s Day. Hosted in the elegant Jacobson Ballroom, the fashion show will take place on Mother’s Day weekend, showcasing stunning original designs by fashion designer and Clearwater Vice Mayor, Lina Teixeira, who will be joined by her daughter and model, Bianca.
The Oceania Couture Performance Show promises to be a night to remember, with a stunning backdrop of marine-inspired fashion and a commitment to preserving the beauty of the oceans for future generations.
Teixeira, known for her innovative and avant-garde approach to fashion, will unveil a breathtaking collection inspired by the beauty and mystery of the underwater world brought to life in blues, greys, sand, seafoam and white. The show will feature an array of original gowns and fashion pieces, each designed with an oceanic theme in mind. Several of the-one-of-a-kind gowns will be available for bid in a silent auction.
Tickets are $75 for general admission, and $100 for VIP which will include an appetizer and drink.
