A Biographical View of the Koran

In the second of a series on "Books That Changed the World," professor Bruce Lawrence discusses his new biography of the Koran.

The Qu'ran: A Biography introduces readers to the text, its historical context and the individuals who played critical roles in the evolution of Islam.

Lawrence is a professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University and the author of six books. He is also the editor of Messages to the World: The Statements of Osama bin Laden.
