With a career spanning over three decades, Eric Alexander
has established himself as one of the most influential saxophonists of
his generation. Alexander is known for his versatile and soulful
performances across a range of genres. While primarily recognized for
his proficiency on the tenor saxophone, he also demonstrates exceptional
skills on soprano and alto saxophones.
Alexander’s
career took off when he secured second place in the prestigious
Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. This
achievement lead to collaborations with celebrated artists such as
Charles Earland, Pat Martino, Harold Mabern and Jimmy Cobb. Alexander
has also performed and recorded with McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton, Kenny
Barron, Rufus Reid and Ira Sullivan, to name a few.
He has released
more than 40 albums as a bandleader, showcasing his exceptional talent
for composing and arranging. His signature sound is characterized by a
robust tone and an innate ability to blend traditional and contemporary
jazz elements seamlessly.
