Rishi Nair, 12, of Seffner is officially an expert on maps, borders, culture and history.
The student from Williams Magnet Middle School in Tampa was the last man standing in Washington D.C Wednesday.
Nair won a $50,000 college scholarship, an all expenses paid Alaskan expedition and a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society.
He beat out 53 other fourth- through eighth-graders from across the U.S by correctly answering this question: a new marine sanctuary will protect sharks and other wildlife around Isla Wolf in which archipelago in the Pacific Ocean?

Rishi is the second Florida student to win the National Geographic Bee. In 2010, eighth-grader Aadith Moorthy of Palm Harbor was the national champion.
