NPR's Andy Bowers reports from Moscow on how a political scandal is playing out. Today, the lower house of the Russian parliament called on President Yeltsin to suspend his Chief of Staff, Anatoly Chubais. A week ago, Chubais was the central figure in a newspaper story alleging illegal activity during the Presidential campaign earlier this year. The story, said to be based on tape recordings of a meeting, alleged political pay-offs, hush-money and a cover-up. Chubais called the recordings fake and today began a counter attack against his accusers.
