Just yesterday the NASDAQ composite index — which includes many high tech names such as Microsoft, MCI Worldcom and Intel — finished above 5-thousand for the first time ever. And it was up a bit more today. The ongoing rise in tech stocks has occurred despite a series of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve Board. It illustrates some of the difficulties Fed officials face as they try to keep the economy from overheating.
