Christoph Eschenbach has been named the new Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He will take over in 2003, becoming only the seventh music director in the orchestra's 100 year history. He comes from the Houston Symphony Orchestra and is also music director at the Orchestre de Paris, the Hamburg NDR Symphony Orchestra, and the Ravinia Music Festival.
