Conservative commentator and failed presidential candidate Alan Keyes has accepted the Illinois Republican Party's nomination to run for the U.S. Senate against popular Democrat Barack Obama, even though Keyes lives in Maryland. Slate senior editor Andy Bowers explains how any politically motivated citizen can run for the U.S. Senate in any state.
