Crocker Offers Iraq Status Report

MADELEINE BRAND, host:

This is Day to Day, I'm Madeleine Brand.

ALEX COHEN, host:

And I'm Alex Cohen. General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker are on Capitol Hill today talking about the status of U.S. troops in Iraq. Ambassador Crocker told law makers that the U.S. needs to stick to its current policy or risk failure.

Ambassador RYAN CROCKER (U.S. Ambassador to Iraq): Our current course is hard, but it is working. Progress is real, although still fragile. We need to stay with it.

COHEN: Some senators were skeptical. We'll have more on today's testimony by Ambassador Crocker and General Petraeus from NPR's Tom Bowman later on in the program. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
