5th Annual ArtOut: Queering the Pandemic
WHAT: 5th Annual ArtOut: Queering the Pandemic – An International Juried Art Exhibit WHEN: June 1-30, 2022 WHERE: Gulfport Public Library, Gulfport, Florida CONTACT: Susan Gore, 727-222-2508, lgbtqgulfport@gmail.com GULFPORT, FLA, April 26, 2022 – The LGBTQ Resource Center of the Gulfport Library will hold its 5th Annual ArtOut exhibit, “Queering the Pandemic,” June 1-30. This international juried exhibit will be held both in person at the Gulfport Public Library in Gulfport, Fla., and virtually at https://artout.lgbtqgulfport.org This exhibition features artwork created by LGBTQ+ artists and Allies that is inspired by experiences of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary goal of the exhibit is to lift up LGBTQ+ experiences and responses generated by the COVID-19 pandemic: resilience, creativity, suffering, persistence, and more. "ArtOut 2022 demonstrates how COVID has affected all of us," says LGBTQ Resource Center Board President Susan Gore. "Showcasing LGBTQ+ artists from around the world is a direct result of learning to connect online during the pandemic." Jurors: Hunter O’Hanian, Executive Director of the Stonewall National Museum and Archives in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the first and one of the largest national LGBTQ+ archives and libraries in the United States. Kalki Subramaniam, transgender activist, artist, poet, actor, and writer who founded the Sahodari Foundation to empower transgender people in India. Saudade Toxosi, multidisciplinary artist and image curator whose vision is to articulate the “New Indigenous African” experience in America including serving as the 2023 BIPOC Guest Curator at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center.
