Erica Bleu explores human emotion through the behaviors of insects, revealing universal truths about existence. After moving to Florida, she was captivated by the Eastern lubber grasshopper, striking yet destructive, leading her to question other seemingly harmless forces in her life.
Her work reflects this tension through elegant clay forms in faded greens and muted greys, their ornate slip-trailed designs and floral water etchings evoking both beauty and quiet unease. Once consumed by anxiety and seeking comfort in distractions, Erica now examines the parallels between nature and mental health, embracing awareness and fulfillment over past temptations.
