Exhibition: "I See Things" by Savelli

Exhibition: "I See Things" by Savelli
The artist known as Savelli is a visionary sculptor who works in graphite, mica and resin, as well as other more traditional mediums such as metal and wood. This show illustrates his ability to see things in everyday life, perhaps driving down the road or on TV, and then visualizing an idea for his artwork. He says, “I see things in my head, and then I make them.” The 3-dimensional wall art in the exhibit displays his creativity.
Savelli, AKA John Richardson has an innate mechanical ability, attested to by his commercial success in the window and door business. He has had a rich history of seeking out and learning from other artists whose work fascinates him. Back in 1970, he apprenticed with metal sculptor, Gabrielli in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. Later in St. Pete he was able to study with another artist who had a metal coloring technique that he had not seen before. More experimentation has lead to the unique colors, and textures of his current art.
Savelli’s exhibition, “I See Things” is on display at St. Pete ArtWorks October 1 through November 3, 2024. A reception will be held October 12 from 5 to 9pm during St. Pete's Second Saturday Art Walk, featuring live music by Leon Barrickman starting at 6 pm.
