From the calm melodies in “He, Watching Over Israel” to the lively “The Fire Descends from Heav’n,” TOS captures the deep emotion and heart of Mendelssohn’s magnificent music," Nancy Callahan, Director. First premiered in 1846, it tells the story of the prophet Elijah, his mission to lead the people of Israel back to God and his confrontation with the prophet, Baal.
