Holy Spaces

The exhibition seeks to call on its viewers to examine the sacred and their relationship to it in a way that is tender yet visceral.
The Hive Community Clay is pleased to present Holy Spaces, an exhibition that highlights a non-exhaustive list of the ways featured artists connect to the divine as well as an emphasis on the way traditional Christian nationalism may have impacted one's upbringing and ability to engage with spirituality.
Is holiness found in the natural world, in small daily ritual practice, or in observing one’s body as a temple? In our current resurgence of religious nationalism, reactionary populism and anti-intellectualism, what does it mean to create space for awe or to engage in worship? How do the non-normative members of our social spaces connect to the ritual of now, the small moments of prayer or grief and afterlife? How do those aligned with more traditional faiths engage with a political climate using the authority of holy spaces to demonize the “other?”
