Reception: Pixel Perfect, Art by Lauren Brigman
Reception: Pixel Perfect, Art by Lauren Brigman
The pixel art of Lauren Brigman is inspired by the works of Dali, who used distance to change the perspective of his images. His famous work titled “Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea,” at twenty meters becomes the “Portrait of Abraham Lincoln-Homage to Rothko.” As you distance yourself from the piece, the image begins to become clear. The modern-day fix to this is to open your phone and view through your camera lens, which will instantly expose the image.
Lauren Brigman is a native Floridian who has been married 20 years and has four children. She runs a local nonprofit, 100 Women Who Care, and serves on several local boards which fund the arts. Lauren works in an array of mediums but features her pixelated works for this exhibit. These fun pieces are great conversation starters and always excite viewers once they can see the image.
As August’s Featured Artist, Lauren Brigman presents “Pixel Perfect,” mixed media works. The show can be viewed during regular gallery hours during August. Meet Lauren at the Opening Reception, which takes place during St. Pete’s Second Saturday Art Walk. Interact with the work of more than 30 local artists, enjoy refreshments and listen to music. Leon Barickman performs punk style rock and country standards starting at 6 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
