Some Tampa Bay Rays baseball fans might be envious of the Miami Marlin's new ballpark with its retractable roof and real grass. However, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. In fact, the grass is brown and the roof leaks.
The Miami Herald reports that too much rain in April meant less sun causing the outfield grass to decay and brown. The sod in right field has already been replaced once, before opening day. Now the grounds crew will pull out sun lamps, while the Marlins are on a road trip, to coax the grass to grow green.
The 8,000-ton retractable roof also is leaking. The Marlins management told the Herald it's confident that the "kinks" in the new ballpark can be worked.
“We knew going in the other retractable-roof ballparks had to make adjustments the first two years to get their ballpark right,” Marlins president David Samson said. “We hope we get it right the first time. So far, it’s not right. We’re going to keep working and finding a way to make it better.”

Two years to plug leaks in their retractable roof, maybe it's better to let the other guys work out the "kinks" knowing that the turf is always green at Tropicana Field and the only wet spot is the Rays aquarium.
