Florida Matters Preview: Disaster Preparedness After Hurricane Irma

Florida Matters host Robin Sussingham moderated the mayors' panel titled "Perspectives from the Eye of the Storm" at USF St. Petersburg on Oct. 30.

The Tampa Bay area narrowly avoided the worst of Hurricane Irma in 2017, but the scare forced city leaders to make changes to how they prepare for natural disasters.

Florida Matters host Robin Sussingham recently moderated a panel with Florida mayors at the Initiative on Coastal Adaption and Resilience conference on Oct. 30.  In this excerpt, Mayor Rick Kriseman of St. Petersburg and Mayor Nancy Shaver of St. Augustine speak about the lessons they learned from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Matthew in 2016:
