Gov. Rick Scott Makes Top 10 Political Quotes List of 2012

MyFlorida.com

Even in a hotly contested political year filled with national elections, Florida's governor made the Washington Post's list of the top 10 political quotes in 2012.

To be clear, the quote is not from Gov. Rick Scott. It is a "sound bite" about Florida's first term governor who spent millions of his own money to win the Republican nomination and the general election in 2010.

“(Florida Gov.) Rick Scott doesn’t seem to have any political skills at all. I’d give him a ‘B’ for governing. I’d give him an ‘A’ for strangeness.” – Former Florida GOP chairman Tom Slade This quote makes our list mostly because it’s totally awesome. But it also pretty well sums up the adjustments made by many tea party-backed politicians who were elected in 2010. Many of them proved unconventional, to say the least, and Scott heads that list.

Tom Slade's comment about Scott is ranked 8 out of 10. It was topped by quotes from Pres. Barack Obama, Vice Pres. Joe Biden, and U.S. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.). The number one quote belonged to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney:

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.” – Romney
