Bribes

Commentator Marianne Jennings says businesses use all kinds of terms these days to describe cash demands. Not only is there a "shelf-space slotting fee" that food manufacturers pay to grocery retailers for prime shelf placement, and publishers pay "display fees" to book chains for prime window and floor spaces. Jennings says that whatever the fees are called, she thinks they're just bribes.
