Young black pilots Kenny Roy and Jimmy Haywood just made history in flight. They, along with their mentor, share their story with NPR's Tavis Smiley.
Just a few weeks ago, 11-year-old Haywood set a world record by becoming the youngest male to fly a plane on a round-trip international flight.
Not to be outdone, 14-year-old Roy recently became the youngest African-American to be licensed to fly a plane solo in Canada.
The two pioneering pilots are part of a group connected to Tomorrow's Aeronautical Museum, based in Compton, Calif. Robin Petgrave, co-founder of the Museum, recruits young kids to work at the Compton Woodley Airport in exchange for flight lessons.
