Thieves Steal Toilet Valves in Dunedin

Bay News 9

Florida is known for its strange news stories and the people that create them. Well, here's another one... Thieves in Dunedin are targeting public toilets. The toilet valves that is....

The men's restroom at Dunedin Library is missing three toilet valves.

Toilet thieves have also hit two other locations: Dunedin Historical Society and Museum and the Clearwater Public Library main branch.

Clearwater Public Library director Barbara Pickell says this is going to cost several hundred dollars to repair.

"Certainly inconvenient for a lot of people and expensive for us especially at a time when money is a big issue and just having enough money to keep our doors open is a concern," she says.

The Clean Plumbers service manager Paul Laezza,  says there isn't much value to a valve.

"Well you know what you'd have to get a lot of it 'cause it only pays about 2 dollars a pound when they scrap this stuff," he says.
