Lake Placid Caladium Festival

Lake Placid Caladium Festival
Caladiums are grown in large fields in Lake Placid, the nation’s caladium capital, and have been compared to the tulip fields in Holland for their beauty. The 40+ varieties of red, white, and pink, and all combinations of the colors is truly a work of art. This annual festival celebrates the beautiful plant with bus tours of caladium growers, caladium exhibits, art competitions and vendors, bulb and plant sale, antique cars, and live entertainment. This year will also see the special addition of the “Caladium Flyer” from Sugar Express, Florida’s only historic steam-powered passenger train. One-hour train trips will depart Lake Placid on Friday and Saturday at 10am, noon and 2:00pm each day. The festival is free to attend. Train tickets are $30.
