October is National Dental Hygiene Month. and Concorde Career Institute–Tampa is partnering with PDS Health and Liberty Dental Plan to provide no-cost dental care to children ages 4–17. This event is part of a nationwide initiative to honor the dental hygiene profession, and promote the importance of preventive care and access to oral health services for children and families.
All dental services are provided by Concorde Dental Hygiene students under the direct supervision of faculty and licensed dental professionals. PDS Health and Liberty Dental Plan are providing toothbrushes for all kids in attendance. Other activities include face painting and prize giveaways.

No child will be turned away. If appointments on October 13 fill up, Concorde will work with families to schedule their children in the coming weeks during their regular Community Dental Hygiene Clinic hours.

Museum Minis with Tombolo Books invites children ages 0 to 5 years old and their favorite grownups to join us in the galleries every third Wednesday for an art-filled storytime! From shapes to colors and artists to animals, there is always something fun to discover at the MFA.
Encaustic paint, an ancient art medium made from melted wax and pigment, is incredibly versatile. There are so many ways it can be manipulated – painting, layering, embedding, incising, mark-making, and sculpting, just to name a few. Whether this is your first foray into the medium or you’re an experienced encaustic artist, together we will explore the world of encaustics and take your work to the next level! This eight-week course for beginning and advanced students will focus on incising, layering, mark-making, pigment sticks, mixed media collage, mono-types, and 3D works. Come join us for a waxy adventure!

“Cancer – Where Are We In Our Quest To Defeat The Disease?”
On October 15 at 5:30 PM, Dr. Monique Sajjad, DO, oncologist and hematologist at Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, will provide an update as part of First Presbyterian Church’s Beach Drive Forums. She will include information on recent advances in cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as addressing the potential impact of current uncertainties surrounding research funding.
This presentation is part of First Presbyterian Church’s Beach Drive Forums. These monthly conversations for the community with intriguing speakers on thought-provoking topics are held on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM in Fellowship Hall of the church located at 701 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg.
