Jeffry Knight is seen talking on his phone, aboard his 37-foot boat at the Belleair Boat Ramp Sunday night, following his vessel's collision with the Clearwater Ferry.

The announcement comes days after the venue's owner struck the Clearwater Ferry on Sunday night.

The management of Jannus Live, the outdoor concert venue in downtown St. Petersburg, has announced that owner Jeffry Knight is “stepping down” and is no longer affiliated with the company.

The 37-foot boat Knight was operating Sunday night in Clearwater Harbor struck the slow-moving Clearwater Ferry, killing one passenger and injuring eight others.

No charges have been filed. A multi-agency investigation is ongoing.

A notice on the Jannus Live Facebook page, posted Wednesday afternoon, read: “Effective immediately, Jeff Knight is stepping down from his position at Jannus Live and will no longer have aby affiliation with the venue.”

It went on to say that the decision was made “out of respect for the victims of the recent Clearwater Ferry tragedy.”

Jose “Pepe” Castro, a resident of Palm Harbor, was killed in the accident.

Knight Global Entertainment, LLC, has been the registered owner of Jannus Live since 2010. Knight is also the owner of Knight Enterprises, a telecommunications contractor.
