Ladies, if you're looking to graduate with an AA, BA or PhD, there are a number of fine colleges in Sarasota.
But if you're hoping to earn your MRS degree, you might want to look elsewhere.
That's because Sarasota ranked No. 1 on The Atlantic's survey of the worst cities for college-educated women.
Here are the highlights -- er, lowlights? -- of the study:
"No offense intended to Sarasota's bachelors -- I'm sure they're lovely," said Associate Editor Jordan Weissmann. "But for every ten guys under 35 with a diploma, there are roughly 18 female college grads the same age roaming the city's greater metro area. Nobody's beach body is worth battling those odds."
Sarasota exemplifies the national trends of (A) single people desiring to partner up with someone of the same education level; and (B) college-educated women outnumbering college educated men.
Other parts of the region also didn't fare well -- Lakeland-Winter Haven was second worst, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater was 21st worst.
According to the study, your best chance of finding love is in Ogden, Utah, which has the lowest so-called "man gap."
