After Florida took four days to count all of its election ballots, officials are scrambling to change voting procedures.
State Representative Darryl Rouson from St. Petersburg announced legislation today that would reform election statutes in Florida.
"It's a shame that the governor has said that we did the right thing. We did not do the right thing," said Rouson, "we need to go back to pre-2011, pre-house bill 1355, and create the opportunities for people to exercise the most basic democratic right."
The current draft of the bill would allow for 2 weeks of early voting, bringing back the Sunday before election day, which was eliminated this past election.
There would be more early voting sites and local officials would have the discretion to choose polling sites not limited to governmental buildings.
