Kate Stein can't quite explain what attracts her to South Florida. It's more than just the warm weather (although this Wisconsin native and Northwestern University graduate definitely appreciates the South Florida sunshine). It has a lot to do with being able to travel from the Everglades to Little Havana to Brickell without turning off 8th Street. It's also related to Stein's fantastic coworkers, whom she first got to know during a winter 2016 internship.Officially, Stein is WLRN's environment, data and transportation journalist. Privately, she uses her job as an excuse to rove around South Florida searching for stories à la Carl Hiaasen and Edna Buchanan. Regardless, Stein speaks Spanish and is always thrilled to run, explore and read.

Davondra Alston is a Florida A&M University graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. Prior to interning with WFSU-FM, she interned at the Association of Florida Colleges and Capitol Outlook. She also participated in FAMU TV 20 at Five as an associate producer, writing and producing scripts. Alston is looking forward to attending graduate school to major in a Science and Speech Disorders program.

Sarah Mueller is the first recipient of the WFSU Media Capitol Reporting Fellowship. She’ll be covering the 2017 Florida legislative session and recently earned her master’s degree in Public Affairs Reporting at the University of Illinois Springfield. Sarah was part of the Illinois Statehouse press corps as an intern for NPR Illinois in 2016. When not working, she enjoys playing her yellow lab, watching documentaries and reading memoirs.

Dorian joined KPCC in 2013. He covered immigration, crime, climate change, education and arts & culture before taking over the military and veterans beat.

Morgan McMullen is WUSF’s Stephen Noble Intern for Summer 2017. He is a senior at the University of Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with a concentration in American history. He graduated from Broward College in Davie with an associate degree while writing for The Observer, earning an FSCPA award for his news reporting. He currently writes for the Independent Florida Alligator as a sports reporter. Morgan takes particular interest in covering the social issues that surround sports. He draws inspiration from the writing styles of Bomani Jones and Bob Ryan

Nikeya Heath is a senior at the University of North Florida, pursuing a degree in communications with a concentration in multimedia journalism. She has a passion for people, traveling, social media and fashion.

Shawn Mulcahy is a junior at Florida State University pursuing a degree in public relations and political science. Before WFSU, he worked as an Account Coordinator at RB Oppenheim Associates and a contributing indie writer for the music blog EARMILK. After graduation, he plans to work in journalism or government communications. He enjoys coffee, reading and music.

Harvest Public Media's reporter at NET News, where he started as Morning Edition host in 2008. He joined Harvest Public Media in July 2012. Grant has visited coal plants, dairy farms, horse tracks and hospitals to cover a variety of stories. Before going to Nebraska, Grant studied mass communication as a grad student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and completed his undergrad at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. He grew up on a farm in southwestern Iowa where he listened to public radio in the tractor, but has taken up city life in Lincoln, Neb.

Angela Cordoba Perez is a WUSF/USF Zimmerman School digital news intern for the spring 2020 semester. Currently, she is a sophomore at USF majoring in mass communications and completing a minor in psychology.

Robbie Gaffney is a recent graduate from Florida State University with degrees in Digital Media Production and Creative Writing. Before working at WFSU, they recorded FSU’s basketball and baseball games for Seminole Productions as well as interned for the PBS Station in Largo, Florida. Robbie loves playing video games such as Shadow of the Colossus, Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Their other hobbies include sleeping and watching anime.

Ralph Cantave is a senior Broadcast Journalism major at Florida A&M University. He is a transfer student from St. Maarten where he served as a youth ambassador. Ralph is also a published author and poet. He's been a writer and radio personality since his mid-teens and is a history enthusiast. Cantave enjoys reading, traveling and talking to new people. He also runs a restaurant with his wife Charity on the island.

Andrew Quintana is a senior at Florida State University pursuing degrees in Communication Studies and Editing, Writing, & Media. Before entering WFSU's newsroom, Andrew worked with V89 Radio's News and Continuity department and interned as a staff writer for Haute Living Magazine.
