The dangers of Iran's nuclear program, as well as the possibility the militant the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, could get their hands on a nuclear device will be the focus of a University of South Florida conference Monday night.
"The Future of Nuclear Proliferation in the Middle East: Ongoing Nuclear Negotiations with Iran" will take place at 6 p.m. in the USF Patel Center for Global Solutions Auditorium. Joseph Cirincione, the President of Ploughshares Fund, a publicly supported foundation that is trying to rid the world of nuclear weapons, is the featured speaker.
Dr. Mohsen Milani, Executive Director of the USF Center for Strategic and Diplomatic Studies, says the discussion is part of the Center’s “Conversation Series on Global Security.”
"What we are going to have is a conversation about the threat of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, as well as his assessment of the ongoing negotiations between the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany and Iran," Milani said. "He is one of the leading experts in the country about these negotiations."
The event is free and open to the public.
