A mid-level disturbance will almost guarantee periods of heavy rain for parts of the state this weekend, especially Friday and Saturday afternoon where sea breeze interactions may enhance the rain north of the I-4 corridor across north-central and northeast Florida.
The system will pull away on Sunday and precipitation chances will return to normal, but not before some areas could see 2 or more inches of rainfall. Elsewhere in the tropics, a wave presently moving through the Cape Verde Islands has a medium chance of development by early next week as it nears the Lesser Antilles. We have plenty of time to watch this potential development, but at this time it's not an immediate threat to any land areas.
