The Tampa Bay Lightning's 38-year-old beloved captain, Marty St. Louis, has had his dream fulfilled. He will compete in the 2014 Sochi Olympics as a member of the Canadian team according to Hockey Canada.

It was a shock among hockey fans both in the Tampa Bay region and in Canada when St. Louis was not named to the Canadian team in January.

But  now that doctors have ruled Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos is not healthy enough to skate, St. Louis, Stamkos' line-mate and friend, was selected to fill the roster spot.

"Great opportunity for me. I think if you asked Stamkos who he wants to replace him it would be me. So I'll do the best I can," St. Louis said in a Lightning news release.
