Florida Police: Woman Accidentally Shoots, Kills Teenager

Crawford Learmonth/Flikr

A 21-year-old Florida woman is charged with manslaughter after police say she accidentally shot a teenager riding in car with her.

St. Petersburg police say Jessica Perry was riding with a 17-year-old girl at 2:25 a.m. Sunday when a gun she was carrying went off, striking the girl in the back.

They were passing by the downtown police station and the car's driver pulled in and flagged down an officer. The girl later died from the wound.

Police didn't release the name of the victim. Perry was being held in the Pinellas County jail. Jail records did not list an attorney.
