National parks are offering free admission for the Juneteenth holiday

Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park spans over 1.5 million acres in South Florida and is known for its diverse habitats and wildlife.

The National Park Service allows entry with paying admission on many holidays to encourage people to visit and learn more about an area's history.  

U.S. National Parks will have a "free fee day"  in honor of Juneteenth on Thursday.

The closest national parks to the Tampa area are Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park, all in Florida. 

  • Everglades National Park, about 210 miles south of Tampa, has subtropical wilderness offering unique ecosystems and wildlife.
  • Biscayne National Park, located southeast of Miami about 282 miles from Tampa, protects a beautiful bay with coral reefs, islands and mangrove forests.
  • Dry Tortugas National Park, about 230 miles west of Key West is known for historic Fort Jefferson, snorkeling and diving.
