After a round of powerful storms produced widespread heavy rain and localized street flooding across portions of the Tampa Bay area on Thursday, another round of rain is expected to usher out the work week.
This is the result of the tropical wave that is making its way north through the state, dragging tropical moisture form the south, according to the National Weather Service.

Expect a 90 percent chance of widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, according to the Weather Service, with some of them again possibly bringing heavy downpours and localized street flooding – especially in low-lying areas – as the wave moves through the region.
Conditions will ease a bit as winds will shift from the southwest starting on Saturday and into next week, forecasters say, meaning showers and thunderstorms likely will emerge over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and move onshore overnight into the early morning.
Forecasters warn that Thursday’s downpours, along with any prolonged rain in the next few days, could increase the risk for additional flooding and rivers rising above flood stage.
