WUSF Reporters Take Top Honors At 2019 Griot Drum Awards

WUSF 89.7 News took both honors in the radio division at the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists 2019 Griot Drum Awards and Scholarship Banquet.

Reporter Stephanie Colombini won the Best General Reporting Award for her “Growing Unaffordable” story, “Homeownership Programs Help Renters Find Stability,” while reporter Cathy Carter won the Best Feature Reporting Award for her story, “A Fighting Chance: Tampa Police Coach Kids In Boxing And In Life.

WUSF received six nominations for the 2019 Griot Drum Awards, which recognize the region’s best media coverage of people of color.
