NPR's Dan Charles reports that researchers have developed a way to produce truly three-dimensional images. By shooting lasers into cubes made from special glass, the researchers have been able to trace images that a person can actually walk around and view from any angle. Although a lot more work needs to be done to develop the technique for practical uses, experts say the technique appears superior to previous attempts to develop 3D images.
