Drivers have experienced historic sticker shock as they've filled up their tanks since the U.S. and Israel began military action against Iran. Floridians have paid higher prices in the past, but rarely have experienced such sudden price hikes. The same goes for gas station owners.

Florida law requires most stations to be able to run on generators, while requiring gas-station chains to have at least one portable generator for every 10 fuel outlets they own in a county.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced several sites opening in the Tampa Bay area will make up to 10 gallons of free gas available.
