A measure would, among other things, prevent partisan political parties and fundraising at public institutions, which the sponsors say belong to the taxpayers. Some say it would restrict free speech on college campuses.

The Environment and Natural Resources Committee unanimously forwarded the measure, a product of last year's heavily criticized plan to add recreational development to state parks.

The measure would designate the University of Florida's Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment as the state hub for research, services and best practices

The bill now will go to the House, where it is expected to pass.
