The USF Bulls women's basketball team's magical season came to an end Monday, as the Bulls fell to Louisville 60-52 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
In front of a raucous home crowd of 5,014 at the Sun Dome, the Bulls fell behind 12-2 to Louisville, the 8th ranked team in the country, before battling back to tie the score at 14.
Louisville, the 3rd seed in the Albany region, was up 28-23 at the half, but 6th seed USF, led by junior standout Courtney Williams (game high 25 points), rallied to take a 40-37 lead with about five minutes to play.
Unfortunately, Louisville's size wore down the Bulls, and the Cardinals finished the game on a 14-5 run. For the game, Louisville outrebounded USF 45 to 32, including 20 on the offensive side.
USF finished with a record of 27-8, tying the school record for wins in a season. They return all but one player from this year's team, including Williams, who set a single season record for points with 710.
Louisville (27-6) plays number 7 seed Dayt0n (27-6) in Albany Saturday afternoon.
The NCAA Women's Final Four takes place at the Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa April 5 and 7.
