Florida Department of Children and Families website

Governor Rick Scott says he wants about $200 million for Florida families who adopt foster kids. Listen to the story!

According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, the funding is expected to help provide critical services to more than 37,000 kids—post adoption.

November is also National Adoption Month. As part of the month, DCF is partnering with the Governor’s office of Adoption to feature “30 days of Amazing Children.”

That means every day this month, a child awaiting adoption will be featured on DCF’s Facebook page as well the DCF website. There are currently 800 kids awaiting adoption.

Last year, more than 3,600 kids in Florida were adopted. Officials say it’s the most in eight years.
