Amy Tardif

Your Florida Editor

I’ve made a professional U-turn—and I couldn’t be happier to be back at my alma mater, USF, and the very place where I got my start as an intern: WUSF. Now, I’m the Editor for the Your Florida project, as well as a newsroom editor and trainer, aka newsroom Yoda.

I’ve been an independent fact-checker for podcasts and public media, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Suave from Futuro Studios and Peabody Award-winning Believed from Michigan Radio/NPR. It’s incredibly rewarding to help make sure the truth shines through in powerful storytelling.

After decades leading news at WGCU in Fort Myers, where I picked up my own Peabody for an audio documentary, I shared my editing and coaching wisdom through NPR’s Next Generation Radio project, Report for America and StoryCorps. I’ve also served on national boards for PMJA and RTDNA.

My hometown is Freehold, NJ (like the Boss) and I’ve lived most of my life in Fort Myers, with stints in Chicago and Philadelphia.

You can often find me at the SWFL Fencing Academy, where I serve on the board—and suit up as an advanced foil fencer.

Coming full circle to where my career began feels both nostalgic and exciting—and I’m grateful to be back where the story first started.
