Students Get Life Lesson From Larger Than Life Teachers

More than 100 sixth graders got a life lesson Wednesday from some larger than life teachers- 3 professional football players.
It's one local school's reward for rising to a fitness challenge.

It's called the NFL Play 60 challenge. Four St. Petersburg middle schools participated against one another for a chance to win a makeover for their gym. After four weeks of competing, Bay Point Middle School won. They logged more than 631,000 minutes of exercise.

Tampa Buccaneers linebacker Dekoda Watson had this to say between running drills with the students, "When I was younger I had a lot of friends that didn't like to play and do anything that they were supposed to do and they are having a lot of problems right now. Health- wise. I think they need to be educated on everything. Play 60 is a big thing we're doing to get the message out not only to the Tampa Bay Community but nation wide."

6th grader Brianna Casazza says she was impressed by the player's message. "If I were a Bucs player and I had tons of millions of kids just looking up to me and screaming when I walked in a building, I would feel really good to know that people actually look up to me and make the right choice."

So after a day of fun and fitness, running drills and tossing around the football, Bay Point Middle School received a check for more than $6,000, sports equipment and  a new fitness trail for the school.
